Gallery Sensei
The gallery was launched in New York City’s Nolita neighborhood in the Spring of 2008 by Joseph Latimore.
The concept revolved around one-week exhibitions focus on featuring works of art primarily for artists who had never shown their work in Manhattan.
The launch and subsequent first two years were received so well that the gallery moved to a new location on NYC’s Lower East Side in 2010.
This move launched a program that now featured two week exhibitions as well as a series of screenings & performances.
And, in 2012 the gallery would move to a 1,800 square foot loft space in NYC’s Chinatown where the exhibition, performance and screening series would continue.
However, in addition to the venue’s standard programming, the gallery would begin to participate in international art fairs in New York, Miami, Paris, Milan, London & Hong Kong over the course four years.
During this inception Gallery Sensei enjoyed significant sales and launched the careers of several mid-career, collectable artist.
In 2014, the gallery would move to the UK where it would operate successfully for two years from a spacious warehouse space in East London’s Peckham neighborhood.
Here the gallery would enjoy a solid two year run with continued sales and launching the careers of several UK based artists.
And, in 2016 the director Joseph would return to NYC to resume his work in television & cinema.
Thus, the gallery has been hiatus with plans for a formal return in 2025 rebranded as TODA Studio.
